Definition of cornu mounting

1) a prism system employed in spectrophotometers in which radiation is passed in through one face of the prism and out through the opposite face. The prism employed for this purpose is formed from two thirty degree quartz prisms, one of right-handed quartz and one of left-handed quartz. Produces very good dispersion but no polarization.
